I recently attended a concert featuring 2 European metal bands, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil. The crowd was small but very enthusiastic! It was the first concert Within Temptation had ever given in America and they expressed surprise and delight at the response. I think they underestimated the power of the Internet to spread good music!
Anyway, the question is, how popular are these bands in Europe, particularly their home countries (The Netherlands and Italy)? Are they played on the radio there? Do they play stadiums or small venues? Obviously they are something of a niche market but I am just curious.
Thanks in advance!

My partner and I have been working for the past year and a half developing a marketing system to help promote local businesses in a certain niche market (sorry wont say what the niche is). But when we go to pitch our service we are running into problems. First this is what we do:
Basically we have developed a website much akin yellow pages which only caters towards this niche, over the past year and a half we have become highly optimized for almost every category in the niche ranking in the top 3 spots in Google Yahoo and Bing (MSN). (outranking even yellowpages, yelp, yellowbook and others)
However we are not only offering a subscription into the directory (which gives the clients more exposure). We build each client a website, they get to choose their domain name, we create a custom classified advertisements to use, and we promote their businesses through Google Adwords, (this is done by having adwords drop the click through onto their listing page on our site.) In addition we give the clients access to a backend where they can track how many impressions their classified ads recieve, how many clickthroughs to their website, and a host of other statistical tools.
This is above and beyond yellowpages, in fact many clients we talk to say they spend 150-300 a month on yellowpages and recieve NO results.
We have a few clients who are very satisfied with the service, and it has helped them land additional business. In fact for most of our clients, only 1 job from a lead covers a months charge or more, and we only charge $50/mo promotional rate for 6 months then it goes to $80/mo from there.
Now here is the problem we face when trying to get new clients…. Many of you may have been cold called and pitched by some internet search engine optimization company that promises that they can get you on the front page of Google for a fee.. Most of those companies are shady and provide no results. For some reason when we start talking to people this is what they think we are doing… when in fact this is NOT what we are doing at all!
I'm kind of at a how I can effectively market our service without being confused as one of these shady businesses. Since this is not what we are doing.

This is related to Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz's comments regarding using salacious material to increase advertising revenue in niche publications. Sites like Shine which is aimed at the female audience has an over abundance of articles pertaining to male infidelity thus using the Tiger Woods escapade as a means to invigorate ad targeting.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091210/ap_o…
I have never heard of female infidelity being exploited in such a manner in order to spur advertising revenue amongst men. Are advertising companies banking on women collectively internalizing infidelity more than men?
Is it more marketable to tear a man down in the media for cheating than women in order to keep up the illusion that men cheat more? Does sexism come into play here at all?
-
Yes, and female infidelity is quietly ignored by such women.
-
The tiger woods thing? What seven women knew they were mucking about with a family. Just because he was willing they knew he had kids and they guilty of disgusting behavior worse than him in my opinion. I mean males are programed to get as much as we come what are these women's excuse to do this to another women with a young family? Sluts.
-
It seems that way.
I hardly hear anything about female infidelity from the media.
-
Interesting……. There's truth in what you say. As the old rap lyric states "Cash rules everything around me".

Excerpts:
Berlusconi said: "The G8 has as its task the regulation of financial markets… I think the next G8 can bring to the table a proposal for a regulation of the internet."
Berlusconi didn't explain what he meant by "regulate the internet", but the mere mention of it has prompted dismay among Italian commentators. Berlusconi owns swathes of the Italian mass media.
Any G8 move next year to "regulate the internet" led by Berlusconi is likely to attract criticism. He has often been accused of using his power to try to silence dissent. He lost a long-running libel battle against The Economist earlier this year after it said he was not "fit to run Italy" and was this week suing American critic Andrew Stille for defamation*.
However, the governments of industrialised nations have been ramping up their rhetoric against internet content they view as unacceptable. The UK has introduced new laws and revived arcane ones to clamp down on extremist websites and niche pornography. Australia is busy implementing filters.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/12/03/…
Isn't this just one more way to regulate and disallow freedom of speech?
-
I'm sorry to say that I cannot take Italy's head of state seriously. He carries little credibility with me.
He strikes me like Obama a little. A very bright guy, but nowhere experienced enough to lead a county.
So to answer the question, I think it is bad policy to have someone with so little experience making global suggestions without the knowledge to understand the ramifications.
-
Free Speech is not a global concept…
I don't think this idea will gain footing multi-laterally, so it will not result in much.
-
Belgium wants to regulate "war." France wants to regulate international economies. Itally wants to regulate the internet. I say we dump them all . . . the allies have changed . . . our best interests lie in eastern Europe, South Eastern Asia (specifically India), and the more moderate middle eastern countries . . .
So I vote for **** em.
-
I think we will see more and more of our God given rights, our freedom comming under attack from all over the globe. Every freedom loving citizen of this world should be alert to what is going on and stand up for what is right. Do we want our children and grandchildren to grow up as slaves.
-
Other countries will do what they want, I dont think it will happen here.

how to prevent to be scammed by marketing Scam on the internet?
-
You may use google keyword tool to do a research for the niche you looking for
make sure match type you click on Exact not Broad or Phase type.
-
Besides just using the Google Keywords tool to find main keywords, you can also use the Google Trends or Insight to find out the current hot topics to get an idea about the topic (e.g. which are rising or falling in search and popularity).
-
There are always good companies and individuals that will provide high quality but you will have to search for them.

So I started a company about 2 years ago. It has become pretty successful locally but we are just beginning to branch out on the Internet. It is a niche market and the competitor(s) mainly one…..are extremely harsh on other competitors. They are known to be cruel, slander your company and personal name. I am prepared for this and have enough in my portfolio to shut them up….and enough big clients to prove my standing in the industry. However, I don't think in feel comfortable listing my real name on my bio. I think I may want to create an alias of sorts. I really dint need lectures on anything regarding my business or industry. Justbsome helpful suggestions for a good name that will be memorable….nothing too out there please!
I am female…..so keep that in mind.
I have thought of names like: January, janae, Christina, summer, Capri, chenault pronounced(Chanel) etc etc etc……..
First and last names or first and middle names.
Thank you!
-
Well, in the internet, you can have a 'screen name' that can be used to protect your name. However, using your real name or true identity is better to gain popularity in using that name in the industry and avoid confusion.
-
Um…are you a prosititute? Not judging…just asking? I;m only asking because you talk about "lectures about your business or industry"
I have a couple of very good friends who have worked in that field previously so I really don't care…and I dont know you anyway.
If not…how about giving us an idea what the business is…that might help.
-
Genuine company owners/directors do not use fake names. If you are "worried" about using your real name, you must be doing something shady

Let me explain:
The idea is to basically show as much of the internet from a visual perspective where popular markets and industries could be grouped together and presented like a country is on Google Maps. Then the further you zoom in to any given market or industry it will show niches or even websites with scale determined by their popularity.
Plus, taking the idea one step further you could even have a feature that's similar to the Google maps street view where roads could be replaced by links between websites allowing people to visually surf the web and possibly search the deep web much more effectively.
Just like how Google Maps works, the level of zoom will determine how broad a search is.
Also, one final thought, it could even somehow show other information such as popular search terms and current trends depending on the type of data someone wants to view.
So is this a good or bad idea? I'd appreciate it if you could explain your answer as well. Cheers.
WARNING: !!! No Stealing my idea otherwise i'd want my Royalties !!! LOL
-
You could represent the web as a neural network with links representing connections between neurons. There are neural network visualizers out there.
The problem with the zoom is that there are many dimension of greater detail. If you zoom into David beckham, do you want to know more about his footballing, family, favourite breakfast?

Hi, my name is Margaret and I am planning to get into this "internet marketing" thing. I am currently a newby but i am willing to learn and put an effort into it. My budget is pretty low – 500$. Would You recommend me niche or something to start with? A friend of mine recommended me to buy a web page from a auction. I looked around in a site called "Flippa" and I saw a whole network (11 pages) with a pretty low price. Thanks for the attention! Oh and i almost forgot. Here is the link to the auction https://flippa.com/2649261-network-of-11-highly-profitable-websites Could you please check it and leave me a response? Thanks again and I whish all the best for you!
-
Buying sites can be treacherous if you aren't equipped to properly research it, earnings and traffic figures are routinely faked, is the traffic due to paid advertising? that will vanish when you take over, are those net revenues or did they actually lose money after paying advertising cost?
A typical price negotiation starting point for a site prices is the 1 year earnings.
You can have sites created for you by outsource for pretty cheap, or dabble in affiliate marketing at first with free sites at maybe Hubpages or Blogger.
There are lots of people starting out at Warriorforum.com, as well as some cheap tutorials for sale (WSOs)
Speaking of marketing, this question would be suspected to be a fake question just to get the flippa link mentioned.

I would suggest you dip your toes in to something like working online doing article writing or finding your niche and using it for money on places like Odesk.com that pay you for work via a employers who are looking for one time contractors.
If you want to be strategic about how you tackle it- look at affiliate or network marking tools, places like cosmictopia.com can be a great start, they will pay you to invite members on to their gaming platform and the payments are reoccurring so as long as you have a network of invites you will always earn from them- the bigger your network the bigger your monthly payout.
I hope that helps
